KaziniKwetu Ltd on behalf of client is urgently looking to recruit 20 3rd party certified Pipe Welders to begin working in Sengerema, Mwanza.
Primary Goal: Fabricate and assemble code-compliant, leak-free pipe joints capable of handling high pressure, extreme temperatures, or hazardous fluids.
Common Processes: TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), Flux-Cored (FCAW).
Work Environment: Construction zones; often involves confined spaces, working at heights, and outdoor conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation & Layout
Blueprint Reading: Interpret isometric drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to plan joint configurations and project timelines.
Material Prep: Cut, bevel, clean, and align metal pipes (carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy, etc.) using grinders, torches, or beveling tools.
Fit-Up: Secure pipes using clamps, tack welds, and alignment tools to ensure proper gap and bevel angles before laying the root pass.
Execution & Fabrication
Multi-Pass Welding: Perform high-integrity root, hot, filler, and cap passes across various positions (e.g., 2G, 5G, 6G).
Thermal Control: Monitor heat input, interpass temperatures, and purge gases (for stainless/exotic metals) to prevent oxidation and cracking.
Maintenance & Repair: Cut out defective sections and perform repair welds on aging or damaged piping systems.
Quality Assurance & Safety
Quality Inspections: Examine completed welds visually and prepare joints for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), such as Radiographic (X-ray), Ultrasonic, or Pressure Testing.
Code Compliance: Maintain strict compliance with safety guidelines (OSHA) and industry standard codes (ASME, AWS, API).
